The Best Fighting Tip I Can Give You.

I sometimes get asked for a sure fire "fight ending" technique. This usually comes from a person who's looking for a magic "Super Move" that can make them invincible against any opponent... -
I just want to clarify a couple of things...
...First of all, there's no such thing as a sure fire fighting technique that will always work in every situation!
It's been said over and over again, by people with true understanding...The best defense is not to fight at all. If a fight can be avoided, everyone wins. That's the best fighting tip I can give you.
On the other hand, if you are confronted with an aggressive person, and you can't walk away, or talk your way out of a fight, then here's a little tidbit you can develop without any physical training...
1) ATTITUDE.
Attitude is the single most determining factor as to whether or not you survive an attack. In other words, the person that can rev up and focus the fear and adrenaline rush in their defense usually wins. Technical training and fancy moves don't compare to the ability to fight for all you're worth!
Think of a cat that's pinned in a corner by a bigger stronger dog. The dog will "bark" to intimidate the cat into being a victim. If the cat tries to run, the dog will chase the cat and attack. But if the cat faces its foe, raises its back to make itself look bigger, and hisses for all it's worth, the physically superior dog usually backs off (That is if it has any sense at all. If not then it gets a face full of claws.)
Another scenario is a mother bear protecting her cubs... Even if the aggressor is a larger male bear, that outweighs her by 60 or 70 pounds, she'll still face the aggressor and let him know that he's about to get his ass kicked hard... 99 times out of 100 the larger male bear turns and runs.
What's the difference? They both have the same defense mechanisms, and the same weapons at their disposal. And the male outweighs her by a substantial amount. The difference in one word... ATTITUDE. The male bear is just looking to prove he's a badass, and maybe eat one of the cubs for lunch... The female bear is fighting for her life, and the life of her cubs.
It's not so different with humans.
Now obviously fighting back against a large attacker is going to be harder than defending yourself against a smaller one. But take into account, the reality that most attackers are looking for an "easy victim" and they're not looking for a "fight" anyway, and your odds substantially increase, no matter how big they are.
Here's an interesting little fact for you...
Interviews with convicted felons have been done, providing some insight into the mindset of assailants. Almost without exception these convicted felons say that they look for an easy prey that communicates victim mentality. Physical size itself is not a determining factor in choosing thier victims.
Other cues such as body language, (someone with their head down, shoulders lowered, no eye contact) lack of awareness of the environment around them, and an obvious lack of confidence, play a much larger role in determining who they pick on.
A potential victim can be large or small as long as they pass the above initial screening test. So even a very small person who can communicate assertiveness, will usually thwart an attack before it begins. This behavior is generated from a position of confidence. Walk with purpose, shoulders erect, head up, eye to eye contact, aware and focused. Prepared but not engaging or insulting. Always willing to compromise and let the other person save face. Confindent enough to hold your ground without having to win any verbal war.
Often this air of confidence is enough to cause a potential attacker to choose a different victim.
On the other hand, if you are confronted by an aggressor, and an assault seems imminent, then refer back to rule #1 and take on the attitude of the cat who's about to teach that stupid dog the lesson of a lifetime.
